The effective purification reduces common indoor pollutants like animal fur, mold, mildew, bacteria, dust mites, pollen, smoke and unpleasant odors.

Look forward to cleaner and fresher air as you breathe well with NOVITA Air Cleaner today!

Why do I need a NOVITA Air Cleaner?

Indoor air quality is often contaminated with outdoor pollutants and is an increasingly more concerning health hazard than outdoor air. The harmful particles in indoor air are usually invisible and odorless, thus making it hard for you to detect. Wherever there are people, plants or pets, there are airborne particles that can have an adverse effect on your health and well-being, and especially if you suffer from allergies.

If you have pets in your home, if you have children, or if you have had health issues due to allergies, asthma or other problems with sensitivity to your environment, NOVITA Air Cleaner might be a good solution for you. With its comprehensive purification, it effectively cleans the air for a healthier, more pleasant indoor environment.

How does the NOVITA Air Cleaner work?

Step 1 - Washable Pre-Filter

Widely used for air filtering system, the pre-filter captures the largest particles to improve the
durability and enhance performance of subsequent filters.

Function: - Trap large particles such as hair & scurf
- Prolong the lifespan of subsequent filters

Step 2 - HEPA type Filter

A High Efficiency Particulate Absorbing/Arrestance or HEPA filter is a type of high-efficiency air filter.

Composed of a mat of randomly arranged fibers, HEPA filter targets much smaller pollutants and
particles by trapping them in its fibers.

Function: - Remove up to 95% of airborne particles such as dust, smoke, pollen, bacteria & mold

Step 3 - Granular Activated Carbon Filter

Granular activated carbon is made from raw organic materials, such as coconut shells or coal.

Its internal surface area and micro pores provide a high adsorbent capacity that traps gas molecules and airborne chemicals.

Function: - Absorb unpleasant gases, chemicals & odors

Step 4 - Built-in Ionizer

Negative ions produced by the ionizer are dispelled into the room where they attach to air pollutants to form larger particles, which can be more easily trapped.

Function: - Seek out and remove particles and bacteria from the air
- Produce negative ions to purify and freshen air

What are some of the major sources of indoor air pollutants?

On average we spend approximately 90 percent of our time indoors, and around 65 percent inside our home in particular. This, however, does not shield us from air pollutants which in fact build up more in contained area than open spaces do.

1. Tobacco smoke
Tobacco smoke is one of the major contributors to indoor air quality problems. For many years, the U.S Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has reported the link between second-hand smoke and health effects.

2. Pollen
Pollen comes from trees, flowers and grass. Millions of these particles can enter a home easily through an opened door.

3. Animal fur or dander
Domestic pets like cat and dog leave behind dander flakes which can remain in a home long after the presence of the animal.

4. Mold & Mildew
Growing in places that are warm and humid, these plant spores are typically spotted in the shower, kitchen or basement.

5. Dust
Microscopic dust mites are a very important source of indoor allergens, found mainly in mattresses, upholstery as well as carpets.

6. Chemical odors
Odors from freshly applied paint, glues or solvents can contain toxic compounds that bring about harmful health effects.

Would the use of air-cleaning devices be useful during the haze?

During a smoke haze, fine particulates can enter indoor through openings and gaps. The use of air cleaning devices is an option to keep the particulate levels of an enclosed space low and within acceptable level.

In Singapore, the severity of the haze is measured using the Pollutants Standards Index (PSI). The PSI reading gives an indication of the air quality as shown:

PSI Value PSI Descriptor

0 to 50

Good

50 to 100

Moderate

101 to 200

Unhealthy

201 to 300

Very unhealthy

Above 300

What are the potential health hazards of poor air quality?

Exposure to air pollutants may lead to short-term effects such as reduced visibility, headaches, allergic reactions, irritation to the eyes, nose and throat, and longer term effects such as breathing difficulties, asthma and various chronic respiratory illnesses such as lung cancer and heart disease.

Tips for better indoor air quality:

Always ventilate air in all rooms frequently
Clean air-cons and ventilating systems frequently
Encase all beddings with allergen-proof materials
Wash bedding materials frequently in hot water (above 60 C) to reduce dust mites
Ventilate with an exhaust fan while cooking
Always use gas appliances that uses spark ignition
Have your gas or oil company inspect your gas appliances at least once a year
Insist on pump-type sprays rather than aerosols
Never cook with charcoal in your home
Covering sources of the formaldehyde with appropriate coatings and sealers

What is a CADR?

The CADR or Clean Air Delivery Rate indicates the volume of filtered air delivered by the air cleaner measured in cubic feet per minute. The higher the CADR number, the faster and more efficiently the unit filters the air. As a rule of thumb, the CADR should be at least 2/3 of the room size.
